Masai Mara Safari

Day 1:  (Sunday)

Arrive Nairobi via Cairo, meet your driver, transfer to Karen Residence. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2:

Visit the Giraffe centre, possible to hand-feed from a raised platform. Visit the Daphne Sheldrick’s centre to see many of the rescued baby elephants. Continue to Karen Blixen museum, a chance to go back in time to discover Karen Blixen’s house (now the museum) & vast coffee estate ‘bogani’, where the famous film ‘Out of Africa’ was made. Lunch served in the gardens, glimpse typical colonial lifestyle. Visit Lake Elementaita, located in the famous Great Rift Valley. Dinner & overnight at Sunbird lodge in luxury cottage.

Day 3:

Drive 30 minutes to Lake Nakuru National Park, discover the pink flamingos. Enjoy a full day game drive to see lions, buffalos, rhinos & more. Lunch at the park overlooking the lake. Return to Sunbird lodge for dinner & overnight.

Day 4:

Visit Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. Arrive for lunch at your camp and spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool. Then head off for game viewing when the temperature cools. Return back to Mara leisure camp for dinner and overnight. (Standard tent)

Day 5:

Full day of game viewing. Drive across the plains in search of the ‘Big Five’ or even the migration of wild beast (depending on the time of year). Dinner & overnight at Mara Leisure camp.

Day 6:

Rise early and experience game viewing adventure from an entirely different perspective. Hot air balloon safari across the Masai Mara (at additional cost) lasts approx. 1 hour, a beautiful peaceful experience floating silently high above the plains, forests & rivers. Upon landing a full cooked champagne breakfast awaits. More game viewing during the day. Lunch & dinner at Mara Leisure camp.

Day 7:

Return to Nairobi airport, driving amongst breath-taking landscapes through the Rift valley.

Additionally after spending time in the bush on Safari, take a few days to relax on the beaches at the coastal resorts near to Mombasa, ideal for relaxing before heading home. Stay at one of the beach resorts with their long stretch of white powdery beaches fringed with palms and lined with protective coral reefs (ideal for swimming). The warm waters of the Indian Ocean are teemed with exotic sea life, ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving.
