From Savona, Milan on 20th July 2019 – Costa Diadema (see special offer – Limited period only)
other departures: 15/6, 20/7, 10/8, 21/9, 12/10 – 2019
Day 1: Larnaca – Milan
Upon arrival at Milan airport transfer to Savona port. Embarkation on Costa Diadema
Day 2: Marseille
The ship arrives at Marseille port at 08:30 and departs at 17:00
A pleasant thing to do is simply sit down at one of the cafes overlooking the port of Marseilles and, sipping a Pastis, observe the landscape and the people who inhabit it.
Also called the “Porpoise City “, Marseille is France’s sunniest town, charming with its gullies where you can swim, its history and culture and restaurants with cosmopolitan cuisine. You cannot leave without having first toured on the “Cours Julien”, the street for shopping. The port of Marseille is perhaps a typical tourist destination, but it deserves to be visited for the ferry that leaves from the Town Hall and the old church, which replaced a Templar building.
Not to be missed:
• Avignon, the city of the Popes
• The discovery of Marseilles by bike
Day 3: Barcelona
The ship arrives at Barcelona port at 09:00 and departs at 19:00
Among the “ramblas” you will discover great food and beer, but we are always under the watchful eye of Gaudi, who captured and expressed the soul of Barcelona in his architecture.
The city is home to an innovative contemporary art museum, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, and Camp Nou. Also, after visiting these popular destinations, you can discover the Catalan culture. During our stop in Barcelona, take a walk down La Rambla before visiting the Picasso Museum. In the city, you can see memorable architecture everywhere. Before leaving pay a visit to the neighborhood in the port of Barcelona. Completely renovated for the Olympic Games in 1992, it has become a place filled with bars, clubs, and restaurants.
Not to be missed:
• Helicopter ride
• The masterpieces of Gaudí
• Sightseeing tour of Barcelona and Camp Nou stadium
Day 4: Mallorca
The ship arrives at Mallorca port at 09:00 and departs at 01:00
Imagine an island with turquoise blue waters, secret coves, soft golden sands, lush green foliage, rugged mountains, picturesque villages and a vibrant capital city. Now drop that island in the sea only a couple of hours flight from most European cities… that’s Mallorca (also known as Majorca) in a nutshell. The island and its capital, Palma, are overflowing with character while its beaches are famous all around the world, making it one of the most sought-after summer destinations.
Generously furnished with luxury hotels and villas, Mallorca is also one of the world’s sailing hotspots. The locally produced foodie delights and wines, delicious traditional cuisine and first-class restaurants with Michelin stars have only added to its appeal. But that’s not all, an island steeped in history, Mallorca boasts charming villages, historic sights, an artisan and cultural scene and popular events taking place throughout the year.
If relaxing is your thing, grab a sun lounger at a beach club, hop on a boat trip or stroll through the old streets in Palma for some leisurely shopping. Just don’t expect to relax for too long as there are theme and water parks for the whole family to enjoy, as well as watersports, thousands of things to do and all the serious walking and cycling you could care to do on holiday. And, if you’ve not overdone the daytime, there’s always the bustling nightlife to finish you off.
Day 5: At sea
Day at your leisure to enjoy the facilities and entertainment onboard Costa Fortuna.
Day 6: Cagliari, Sardinia
The ship arrives at Cagliari at 08:00 and departs at 17:00
Cagliari, on the south coast of Sardinia, is rich in historical references. Let’s take a dip at the Poetto Beach, very close to the port but with exceptional crystal-clear water.
The port of Cagliari is located in the Bay of Angels in southern Sardinia. At first glance, this multicultural city reveals all its charm derived from Spanish and Roman and Savoy influences. During the stop in Cagliari, we discover the vestiges of the past and its landmarks: the Colosseum, the Domus de Janas, the Elephant Towers of San Pancrazio, St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Royal Palace. The fortified hill that hosts the old town castle is also well worth a visit. Cagliari boasts some beautiful beaches such as that of Poetto, Porto Giunco and Spartivento.
Not to be missed:
• Sanctuary and the Basilica of our Lady of Bonaria
• The Roman amphitheatre Centu Scalas
• Saint Mary’s Cathedral
Day 7: Rome
The ship arrives at Civitavecchia port at 08:00 and departs at 19:00
Civitavecchia, a former Etruscan port, is the seaport for Rome. And what about it? Everything here reflects the glorious power of a people who ruled the world.
Located in cove, protected to the north by Mignone and south by the Marangone, the Civitavecchia port was built on the Tyrrhenian coast in Etruscan times and still preserves traces of this history. In particular, the Michelangelo fort and the old town with its 9th-century walls bear witness to the splendour of a medieval past. We have to take advantage of this stop to visit Rome, the grandiose capital with its world-famous monuments: the Forum, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trajan’s column, St Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Piazza Venezia, the Spanish Steps and so much more.
Not to be missed:
• The majestic Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi
• The Fort Michelangelo
• The Rocca, an impenetrable fortress
